Checklist for travel essentials
TRAVEL ESSENTIALS - WHAT TO BRING?
  • A compass or Global Positioning System (GPS) - even experienced people can get lost in the forest!  Visitor is advice to stick to the group all the times.
  • Whistles
  • Sleeping bag
  • Flashlights, spare bulbs and extra batteries
  • Leech socks
  • Insect repellent
  • Penknife
  • Hat
  • Rain coat
  • Long-sleeved shirts
  • Extra pants
  • Good pair of shoes/boots
  • High energy food/snacks
  • Binoculars (optional)
  • Camera and extra batteries 
  • Spare plastic bags to store camera and binoculars in case of rain
  • Toilet paper
  • A collapsible umbrella (optional)
  • Water bottles
  • Plastic container (for packed lunch)
  • Garbage bag (useful protective shield from rain - pack clothing in plastic bags before putting into the backpack)
  • Heavy duty back pack
  • Matches/lighter
  • Candles
  • First aid kits (i.e. paracetamol, stomach upset medicine, antiseptic cream, bandages etc.)
  • Adidas kampung (useful especially when trekking on slippery ground i.e. going up and down to and fro waterfalls)
  • Extra socks
  • Slippers
  • Clothing and Footwear - comfortable cotton clothing is ideal for Sabah's climate.  For a trip into the forest, long trousers and long-sleeved shirts are advised and a sturdy pair of  training shoes or boots with good soles are needed (otherwise one would return with blisters)
