Under the management of Yayasan Sabah, the area has developed significantly. To optimize Taliwas River Conservation Area as a conservation area and the use of the studies centre, as a destination for training and education activities integrated with recreation and eco-tourism initiatives, as follows:

To serve as conservation of gene bank for biodiversity.
To provide facilities and services for nature recreational activities for the public, adopting an outdoor family recreation concept.
To provide a venue for nature and environmental education activities for school children, uniformed groups and others including Sabah Nature Club's orientation courses
