Taliwas River Conservation Area (TRCA) is a Class 1 (Protection) Forest Reserve with a total area of 9,546 hectares of unique ultramafic and lowland forest near the southeast coast of Sabah in the district of Lahad Datu. TRCA is located 36km from the Lahad Datu town and 45km from the eastern part of the Danum Valley Conversation Area. TRCA having a unique flora vegetation, beautiful serene lake and crystal-clear water, makes its a perfect place for visitors to experience a pleasurable nature recreation. TRCA also offers the chance to sight wildlife such as birds, mammals and reptiles as well as discovery of unique plants around the area.
Under the management of Yayasan Sabah Group, the Taliwas River Studies Centre has developed significantly. To optimize TRCA as a conservation area and the use of the Studies Centre as a destination for training and education, activities integrated with recreation and eco-tourism initiatives, as follows:

HOW TO GET THERE?
Visitors should obtain a vehicle permit at the Danum Valley office located in the Fajar town, Lahad Datu. TRCA is accessible by air to Lahad Datu Airport from Kota Kinabalu or by road via Tawau or Sandakan. It takes approximately 50 minutes drive to reach TRSC from Lahad Datu.
